Some of the latest happenings in CVSD include a great mix-use development planned for Carmel Country Highlands, a niche community in Carmel Valley. The new plans are known as the Merge development. This large neighborhood parcel, had been owned by Pardee Homes, an award-winning builder in the area, and was purchased for redesign by another development group. Merge is currently approved for all retail, but a new proposal includes a mix of retail and Carmel Valley homes.
Current community events in CVSD, include a free family music program offers an appreciation of many musical styles in July. It is held at the Carmel Valley Library community room and feature Irish, Cajun, Bluegrass, Gypsy, Greek and other violin music. The music event features Celia Lawley, a expert, seasoned violinist with many successful past performances around the country.
